Mother and Son Arrested For Cocaine

On May 14, 2008, just after 8 p.m., New Bern police were called to a home at 2011 Waters St., in reference to possible drug activity. 

When officers arrived, they smelled the odor of marijuana coming from behind the residence, and saw a black male suspect who appeared to be packaging marijuana for distribution. When the officer called out to the suspect, the man ran into the home. New Bern police followed the suspect inside the residence and after a brief struggle took him into custody.

While officers were in the home, they saw additional evidence of narcotic activity. Police obtained a search warrant and recovered more than three pounds of marijuana, crack cocaine, ecstasy pills and large sums of cash.

Mother Arrested In Shelby On Drug Charges While Child In The Car

SHELBY, N.C. — It was supposed to be a routine checkpoint, designed to catch traffic violators on Wyke Road in Shelby, but instead police say they caught Alisha McEntyre with a marijuana cigar in the ash tray, a lot more drugs packaged to sell and her 18-month-old daughter in the back seat.

According to the police report, McEntyre was pulled over because she didn’t have her seatbelt fastened, but when the officer got there, he noticed a strong smell of marijuana.

The officer writes that when he questioned her about the smell and she told him, “I smoked a blunt earlier and that one was in the ashtray.”

Capt. Jeff Ledford said officers soon learned there was more than just a smoked cigar.

$140,000.00 Seizure

SAMPSON COUNTY –  Sampson County Deputies seized more than $140,000 in cash after pulling over a Mount Olive man in a traffic stop.

Deputies say 25-year-old Rigoberto Rivera was pulled over Thursday afternoon for a window tint violation.

Rivera attemped to run away when officers stopped his car but he didn’t get very far.

The cash that was seized is believed to be drug money.

Rivera is being held on a $3,000 bond.

Taylortown councilman’s drug case continued

CARTHAGE — A Taylortown councilman’s drug case has been continued until Dec. 11.

Lonnie Jones III appeared in Moore County Superior Court on Wednesday. His lawyer, Dusty Rhoades, said he was in discussions with prosecutors.

Jones, 38, was charged in July with 12 felonies and five misdemeanor drug charges after Moore County sheriff’s deputies raided his home.

Cumberland Co. Deputies Seize Cocaine, Gun, Money

Spring Lake — Cumberland County Sheriff’s Deputies, assisted by North Carolina A.L.E. agents, confiscated thousands of dollars in illegal contraband from a home in Spring Lake Friday morning.

Investigators raided the home at 303 Rutherford St. following numerous complaints from people working and living in the area.

Deputies reported seizing more than 64 grams of crack cocaine, a stolen handgun and close to $10,000 in U.S. currency from the residence. Two children who lived in the home were turned over to the Department of Social Services, which will be responsible for their well-being.

Four people were charged after the raid.

Local authorities seize cocaine in drug bust

The Greenville Police Department’s IMPACT Team in cooperation with the Special Investigations Unit concluded an investigation into the trafficking of cocaine from the Rocky Mount area to Greenville.

Police arrested five people on a variety of drug charges and seized about three ounces of powder cocaine worth about $3,000 on the street, a Greenville Police Department news release said.

Arrested were Henry Fertondo Richardson, 22, of Enfield; Malory Lamont Staton, 30, of Rocky Mount; Ceairra Sharrell Davis, 18, of Nashville; Brook Leeah Richardson, 19, of Rocky Mount; and Camela Loreese Williams, 20, of Rocky Mount.

Two arrested after lawmen find drugs, money in home

CARTHAGE — Two people were arrested on drug charges after lawmen searched a home on West Vermont Avenue in Southern Pines and found drugs, money and paraphernalia.

Officers with the Moore County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit and the Southern Pines Police Department’s Special Response Team searched the home at 247 W. Vermont Ave. on Monday, a news release said.

Officers found approximately 11 grams of powder cocaine, $1,135 and drug paraphernalia. The estimated street value of the cocaine is $810, the release said.

$160,000 in Drug Money Seized by Iredell County Deputies

The Iredell County Sheriff’s Office showed off $160,000 in drug money Friday.

The money was seized during a traffic stop on I-77 near mile marker 58.

The money was found in a hidden compartment in a ‘98 Audi.

Two people were arrested.

The case has been turned over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

They have seized nearly a million dollars this year in  money.

Hoggard High School student facing felony drug charges

WILMINGTON — A Hoggard High School star running back is facing felony drug charges.

The football career of Rashad Williams could be over after he was arrested for possession with intent to sell and distribute marijuana and possession of a schedule one controlled substance.

Schedule one drugs include heroin and LSD, among others.

The 18-year-old Hoggard senior is one of the football team’s standout players. He was arrested around noon Monday near the high school’s campus.

Williams will appear in court at the end of the month.

Cops arrest drug suspects in widespread action

A recent zero-tolerance drugs and weapons crackdown by the Elizabeth City Police Department has led to more than a dozen arrests and confiscation of cash, property and large quantities of illegal drugs.

Search of a house at 902 Cale Street on Sept. 21 resulted in the arrest of Jervon Wondell McGilberry, 24, who was charged with trafficking cocaine, maintaining a vehicle for the possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Also arrested was Aquila Donta McGilberry, 19, who was charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana.

According to a release from the office of Chief of Police Charles Crudup, officers seized 30.2 grams of cocaine, $731 in cash, a set of digital scales, and a 2004 Chevrolet Avalanche from Jervon McGilberry. Police confiscated 17.7 grams of marijuana and $127 in cash from Aquila McGilberry.

4 men charged in trafficking

CLINTON — Four men were arrested on trafficking charges after lawmen searched their vehicle and found a quarter of a kilo of cocaine and other drugs, authorities said.

On Aug. 21, officers with the Special Investigations Division of the Sampson County Sheriff’s Office stopped a white Cadillac on U.S. 701 at the intersection of Luke Hobbs Farm Road. A search of the vehicle revealed the cocaine, 3.1 grams of marijuana, two rocks of crack cocaine and several weapons, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Henderson County man arrested on kidnapping, drug charges

HENDERSONVILLE – Efren Olmedo Cortina, 47, was arrested Sunday by the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office on four felony and two misdemeanor counts.

Cortina is being held in the Henderson County Detention Center under $181,500 secured bond.

Cortina is charged with one felony count of first degree kidnapping, one misdemeanor count of assault on a female, one misdemeanor count of possession of drug paraphernalia, one felony count of trafficking in methamphetamine, one felony count of possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine, and one felony count of maintaining a vehicle, dwelling or place for a controlled substance.

Cortina grabbed Erika Bonilla, the adult female victim, and forced her into his vehicle. He then transported her to his residence in the Spartan Heights community of Hendersonville.

Authorities Make Largest Cocaine Bust in Lee County History

Sanford — Lee County Sheriff’s officials said they made the largest cocaine seizure in county history Saturday following a six-week investigation.

Five people were arrested after authorities found almost 10.5 kilos of cocaine, which has an estimated street value of more than $2 million, officials said.

Authorities said they also seized several semi-automatic weapons from the residence at 2993 Blackstone Road in rural Lee County.

Officials have not released any names, but the five people arrested were “all illegal aliens from Mexico,” according to Capt. J.C. Holly with the Lee County Sheriff’s Narcotics Division.

93-year-old Man Charged With Trafficking Cocaine

Durham — A 93-year-old Durham man charged with cocaine-trafficking was released on bond Friday, a day after police raids netted three other people on charges of possessing heroine, opium and a slew of prescription drugs.

Police raided two apartments, and the Special Operations Division conducted an undercover operation on Thursday, police said.

Investigators arrested William C. Tinnen, 93, after raiding his house at 204 Teel Street. Officers also confiscated three firearms from the house.

Tinnen faces additional charges of possessing drug paraphernalia and maintaining a dwelling for the sale of drugs. He was released from jail Friday after meeting a $200,000 bond, said Kammie Michael, spokeswoman for the Durham Police Department.

Drug Bust Turns Up 400 Pounds of Pot

(08/24/07 — Wake County) - A huge drug bust in Wake County has turned up four hundred pounds of pot.

Wake County Deputies arrested 33 year-old Victor Villanazul and 29 year-old Jose Longoria on Friday at a house on Reconciliation Drive.

Deputies said the marijuana would sell for $1.8 million on the street.
